Therefore, it has accumulated awards and certifications from renowned entities, such as the Green Key - an international award that promotes Sustainable Tourism in Portugal (under the responsibility of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) - Denmark); Green Leader certification, from TripAdvisor; participation in the HOSPES - Sharing is Caring program, of the Portuguese Hotel Association, among others. We can help change the world by raising awareness of the scarcity of natural resources and using them rationally. We want to meet your needs in a sustainable way. We have adopted an environmental policy that reflects our wishes. We are ambitious, as it represents investments in equipment and training, but the end result is rewarding. Changing attitudes, through raising awareness among our employees, suppliers and customers, takes time but we have been here for more than 6 decades, which means we are persevering. We only use low consumption light bulbs (they save 80% of energy and last 8 times longer). The corridors are equipped with LED lamps. We have several meters to control consumption. In times of low occupancy we try to accommodate all clients in the same wing, saving on electricity and air conditioning. The air conditioning in the rooms turns off when we open the balcony. We change the temperature of the pool water according to the seasons. All of our IT equipment is low consumption. Outdoor lighting is automatically regulated. We carry out preventive maintenance to maintain the regular cleanliness of equipment (air conditioning filters, cold room motors). We control the temperature of the water in our boilers, in order to minimize gas consumption, conditioning the temperature to occupancy. We reuse the back of the paper sheets for notes. We avoid printing emails. We transform old sheets into cleaning cloths. End-of-life equipment (ink cartridges, burnt out lamps, batteries, etc.) are returned to authorized collection companies. Cooking oils are treated by a certified company. To reduce your ecological footprint: Avoid producing rubbish and separate it (put recyclable rubbish in the bucket in the bedroom and the remaining rubbish in the bucket in the bathroom). Do not throw rubbish on the floor. Leave used batteries on the desk in your room for collection.
